1. Kerala to host literary festival with ‘Tolerance’ as theme
Kerala will host the fifth edition of South India Writers Ensemble (SIWE) at Chengannur, Kerala from 24 July 2017.
The core theme of the festival this year is ‘tolerance’.
Writers, journalists, theatre and film personalities from across the industry will be seen deliberating on the theme.
2. Rijiju inaugurates RIWATCH Museum, Chimari Bridge
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has inaugurated the Research Institution of World Ancient, Traditional, Culture & Heritage (RIWATCH) Museum at Roing, Arunachal Pradesh.
Rijiju also inaugurated the 235.800 meter long Chimari Bridge, which would serve as a life line between the National Highway 52 of Roing-Tezu.
3. 5th North East Connectivity Summit to be Held in Arunachal
Arunachal has been chosen to host the 5th North East Connectivity Summit in 2018.
The summit organised by FICCI is one of the most important forums for action oriented deliberations on sub regional economic integration and connectivity between North East India and South East Asia.
4th North East Connectivity Summit is going to be held in Nagaland in the month of September this year.
4. Bengaluru hosted international meet on social justice
A three-day Babasaheb B.R. Ambedkar international conference on social justice was held in Bengaluru from July 21 to 23.
Organised by the Karnataka government, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, human rights advocate and activist Martin Luther King III, and various international and national speakers addressed about 2,000 participants at the conference.
5. Women's World Cup: England beat India by nine runs in final
England completed a stunning fightback to beat India by nine runs and win the Women's World Cup at an ecstatic Lord's.
Chasing 229, India looked set for victory at 191-3, but Anya Shrubsole pinned Punam Raut lbw for 86 to spark a collapse of seven wickets for 28 runs.
This is the fourth World Cup title for England Women.

6. India End World Para Athletics Championship Campaign with 5 Medals
India ended their World Para Athletics Championship campaign with five medals, including a gold medal in London.
India won a silver and a bronze medal in the men's T-42 category high jump event through Sharad Kumar and Varun Singh Bhati respectively.
India collected five medals with a gold, two silver and two bronze medals to finish outside top-30 in the medal standings.
7. Veteran Congress leader Shivajirao Patil dead at 92
Congress leader, freedom fighter and former Maharashtra Minister Shivajirao Girdhar Patil, who was father of late National Award winning actress Smita Patil, died at a private hospital. He was 92.
He was elected thrice to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and served one term in the Rajya Sabha (1992-1998).
8. Former ISRO Chairman U R Rao passes away at 85
Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman and internationally renowned space scientist Professor U R Rao passed away in Bengaluru.
Professor Rao, who served as ISRO Chairman for 10 years during 1984-1994, after taking the reigns from Satish Sharma, was inducted into International Aeronautical Federation (IAF) Hall of Fame last year during the closing ceremony of IAF Congress 2016 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Under the 2017 Padma Vibhushan award winning scientist, India carried out at least 20 satellites project including the country’s first, Aryabhatta.
